I. Introduction of BFSU

Founded in 1941, Beijing Foreign Studies University, or BFSU, is not only the first foreign language university that features teaching and studying of foreign languages and cultures in China, but also the one that has a long history and offers the most language programs in the country. As an important base to cultivate high-quality talents with language competence in diplomacy, interpretation and translation, economics and trade, BFSU has recruited and cultivated overseas students since the 1950s.

As one of the 26 schools of BFSU, the School of Continuing Education, which has a long history and a distinct environment, excels in language and culture teaching. The school possesses famous teachers in all languages who shoulder the responsibility of Chinese language teaching and studying. School of Continuing Education possesses abundant faculty, among whom there are senior professors with rich teaching experience and energetic young teachers with sound theoretical knowledge. We will let you enjoy the student-oriented atmosphere and experience hierarchical teaching methods. In addition, we involve you in the class through plenty of practice, and we regard practicality as the key factor in teaching and teach you in accordance with your aptitude. Over years, a large amount of Chinese learners graduating from the school enter a wider world with great achievements in Chinese learning.

III. Academic Programs

Chinese Language Program

School of Continuing Education is designed to cultivate international talents proficient in Chinese and familiar with Chinese culture. It is the consensus among language learners that one shall enter BFSU to learn languages. School of Continuing Education offers a variety of Chinese courses which can satisfy your different learning needs. Apart from diverse and practical Chinese courses in class, you can also take part in various after-class activities such as language practice, culture lecture, culture courses and talent show.

Notes:

1. The registration fee for each class is 800 RMB/person;

2. The program is opened as long as there are 10 enrollments;

3. The tuition fee covers the textbook fee, and doesn’t cover accommodation, insurance and meal;

4. Assistance is provided for application of accommodation and a BFSU card for use at BFSU dining halls；

5. Online application period：

October. 21st 2024 - December. 15th 2024 (spring semester session);

April. 26th 2025 - July. 10th 2025 (fall semester session).

IV. Entry Requirements

The applicant should meet basic requirements prescribed in"Introduction of Programs for 2025, BFSU”;

1. Age of 18 at the minimum; Senior high school diploma or above;

2. Valid non-Chinese ordinary passport

V. Checklist of Required Items

1.Personal information;

2.Copy of the first page of valid passport;

3.Student Affirmations;

4.Custody release form;

5.Copy of the first page of valid passport or ID of guardian;

6.High-school graduation/pre-graduation certificate: If the certificate is written in neither Chinese nor English, an English translation should be submitted at the same time (which does not need to be notarized by notary authority or embassy of the country where the applicant is);

7. Full high-school transcript: If the transcript is written neither in Chinese nor English, an English translation should be submitted at the same time (which does not need to be notarized by notary authority or embassy of the country where the applicant is);

8. Personal statement: Should be written in Chinese or English, and should contain education experience, motivation to apply, previous Chinese learning experience and the current Chinese proficiency level;

9. Visa page(For applicants currently studying in a university in China);

10. Study certificate(For applicants currently studying in a university in China);

11. Recommendation letter and academic transcriptfrom your current university (For applicants currently studying in a university in China);

12. Application fee: 800 RMB/person, could be paid via the online application system. Applications without being paid would not be proceeded. Whether or not the applicant is admitted, the application fee would not be refunded;

13. Non-compulsory materials: Include but are not limited to college entrance examination transcript, award-winning certificates, HSK transcript or other Chinese proficiency certificates, or any other materials that may be helpful to the application.

Attention: Student should choose "Individuals at their own expense" on the page "please choose your program", and choose "General Visiting Student" on the page "please choose your type".
